students have finished the school year today. And the last day of school, in everyone’s hopes, also coincides with the last day on which the pandemic imposes itself in the classrooms. Remote lessons, quarantines, masks: all things that neither students nor teachers want to hear anymore. In particular, today all the pupils of state schools go on vacation, ie elementary, middle and high schools, as well as state-run nursery schools. There are 500,000 young people in Piedmont, 260,000 of whom are in Turin and its province. As for the infant-toddler centers and nurseries of the capital managed by the civic palace, it will be necessary to wait until June 30th. Then it will be the turn of the summer projects. For many, however, the holidays are already arriving today. Until September, no more happy and noisy crowds on public transport, no more young people storming small gardens and squares, much less traffic in the morning. As usual, the end of school is the prelude to the Turin summer torpor.
Today at the sound of the bell, traditionally, the party began. In Turin, the boys and girls poured into the streets of the center, between water balloons and bathrooms in the fountain in Piazza Castello, despite the clouds that have taken the place of the clear sky of the past few days. In some cases the party was more institutional. This is the case, for example, of the Tommaseo school, where in the Cavour gardens, right in front of the institute, the “Adopt the school” event is scheduled in the afternoon, with snacks, banquets, debates, music and much more. Moreover, for many students, the end of school itself has yet to come. We obviously talk about those who have to take exams: the boys facing the eighth grade and those struggling with maturity, a great step in the life of all boys and girls, the step that separates them from adulthood.
For the third grade, the stumbling block of the exam concerns 39,200 children in Piedmont, of which 20,599 in Turin. The writings in Italian and mathematics (those in English, skipped with the covid, are still suspended for this year) are scheduled between the end of this week and the beginning of the next. The oral exam will be completed by the end of the month, which in most schools will take place starting from the thematic “essay”.
For the high school diploma, the agenda and hands are instead aimed at 8.30 on 22 June, when everyone will have the first written test, that of Italian. Then it will be the turn of the second test and the oral one, with different dates and methods for the various addresses. In Piedmont, 33,593 people will be called to take the final exams, an increase of several hundred compared to last year. In Turin the candidates are 18,083. Followed by Cuneo (4,693), Alessandria (almost three thousand), Novara (2,633), Asti, Verbano Cusio Ossola and Vercelli, which all revolve around 1,300. Biella closes the queue, with 1,200 boys and girls. As for the addresses, the most numerous representation at the maturity are the high schools, with about 50% of the candidates. At the head are the scientists Then the technicians (almost 11 thousand, 32%) and professionals,
