According to the party decidion, Ishaq Dar is arriving back to Pakistan along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will take oath as senator on coming Tuesday. Later, Ishaq Dar also told a private TV channel that he will be coming back to Pakistan along with PM Shehbaz on Sunday and will take oath as Senator on Tuesday, adding that after the decision of PML-N bigwigs, he would take oath as Finance Minister on Wednesday.

Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, outgoing finance minister Miftah Ismail and other party leaders including Ishaq Dar and Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan were also present during the meeting.

In the meeting, the overall political situation of the country was discussed in detail.

The outgoing finance minister Miftah Ismael submitted his resignation to the PML-N supreme leader. “I worked to the best of my ability for four months, and remained loyal to the party and the country,” the PML-N statement quoted Miftah as saying during the meeting.

The party spokesperson shared that while submitting his resignation, Miftah said that the ministry was mandated to him by Nawaz and that he had made him the minister.

Nawaz Sharif appreciated the efforts made by Miftah for performing as finance minister under the “tough economic challenges”. On the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif nominated Dar as the new finance minister of the country. The meeting was of the view that the incumbent government had to “put out the fire of economic disaster” caused by the previous PTI-led regime. Earlier, Sharif brothers had decided that Dar would replace the incumbent finance minister Miftah Ismail. The decision to appoint Dar as financial czar appears to be a desperate move by the bigwigs of the PML-N not only to revive the country’s faltering economy but also to regain its lost political capital ahead of the next general elections.
