The contest for control of parliaments appears to be just as bitter and divisive as the acrimonious race for power in the past. Unfortunately, beneath the surface, the parliamentary battle has been as much about revenge as about transformation.
Preoccupation with settling scores has become a prominent feature of our political parties. However, there is a danger that if the trend of settling scores continues to rise, it will obscure the unity and cooperation required to end the ongoing political crisis in the country.
It is high time our political leaders began behaving with a little more maturity. They must rise to the challenges the country is facing. It is both irresponsible and self-destructive to work to destabilize the system just because one does not like the PTI or the PDM.
At this critical time of political and economic crisis against the background of continuing serious external and internal challenges, the exacerbation of internal divisions because of the thirst for revenge will cause more damage to the country.
Our dear homeland is facing many problems. However, a more sensible and responsible government and opposition can deal with various internal issues. They should solve the issues of the people by being more sensitive toward their problems.
A peaceful political environment ensures a harmonious life and provides avenues for mutual understanding. This understanding further strengthens peace through dialogue, and discussion and creates a virtuous cycle.
On the other hand, if peace is not there, there will be feelings of mistrust and enmity between the political leaders and political parties. Any small misunderstanding can turn into a conflict, which can harm the conflicting parties. Therefore, it is clear that understanding the interests of the other side is essential for long-term peace.
Nations have always made efforts to be peaceful and happy, from political leaders to political groups. It is imperative to maintain a peaceful environment. What is essentially peace? It is nothing but a state of the human mind, which can accommodate the rival political party.
Countries have seen many political battles. Most of these battles take place due to misunderstandings between the rival groups. Thus peace, which is essential for the overall development of the country, remains elusive.
Peace can only be achieved through accommodation and understanding. These words of wisdom have stood the test of time. One can confirm this fact by turning the pages of political history.
Revengeful politics has never been successful, nor has unwillingness ever been a solution to a problem. Nations dislike leaders who are not accommodating. Rulers who understand the problems of the country and the interests of their subjects have always been successful.
Political leaders who do not set an example to the people for their preaching of non-violent politics and their strategy of solving the issues that the people face or are facing fail in getting respect from the people.
Our political leaders should invent a new method of resistance without revenge and only this way the political atmosphere can become pleasant and the country can taste peace and progress.
Accommodation can end political crises. Revengeful politics has always been a cause of unrest as it provides an environment for intolerance in society and is a matter of concern nationally.
Non-accommodation has always played its part and separated political parties and people from each other. The irony is that the one who preaches to unite the nation starts tearing the nation apart. Political groups need to turn away from angry thoughts.
Efforts are necessary to make the country a peaceful place to live. Mutual understanding and mutual respect are necessary among political parties. Vindictive politics cannot create a peaceful political environment, only accommodation can.
