Islamabad, Sept 5: With a growing anger among the masses over rising inflation, balloted electricity bills, shortage of eatables, and a recent protest across Pakistan Miltablishment sees a hidden enemy in sudden flare of the masses.

A strong social media media campaign is being run on Facebook, X, Instagram, and other social media platforms against the Miltablishment with a move to instigate masses against the state institutions.

“We have confirmed reports of an Arab Spring model like move in Pakistan, and we are ready to tackle it,” a senior government official not allowed to share information with Press informed PrideNews on Tuesday on condition of anonymity.

Islamabad and Karachi, he said, were hub of increased diplomatic interactions of diplomats with political leaders, journalists and key social activists, for last four weeks.

“We are cognisant to the fact that interims are complete flop and a failed model but we still have options in hand,” he remarked.

Asked about the interims he maintained: “We agree that interim Premier Kakar is an honest individual but he has no way forward to steer away the state from all economic l troubles and address the issues of general public.”

When asked whether interim Premier Kakar was “a right choice” the official did not made any comment(s).

About the current economic turmoil the official said that: “An economic relief to the masses is not through accountability, but through investment, and Rupee to Dollar conversion stability,” he added.

A weak Pakistan rupee could not withstand a bullish US dollar which is scaling up with every passing day.

The official added that a smear campaign was deliberately engineered on X and social media by Indians and anti state elements against DG ISI Lt.Gen Nadeem Anjum generating a move to bring controversy over his extension and malign the premier state agency.

“It’s a national security related state matter (Extension of DG ISI) having nothing to do with media persons – anchors, YouTubers and general public,” asserted the official.

We, he said, have ear marked all such elements and trying to neutralise their negative propaganda against the state.

In relation to food secuirty of 240 million people, the official said that “our top priority is regulating the sugar, and wheat mafias, and smugglers, besides an action against dollar hoarders is afoot.”

“A way forward is early elections, and we believe that Forigen and local investors / business community’s confidence also rest in the same,” maintained the official while pointing towards a recent interaction of COAS Gen Asim Munir with top businessmen of the country in Karachi.

He said with a widening budgetary deficit, a stable and strong legitimate democratic government at the centre after transparent elections would definitely resuscitate the economy.
