Islamabad, Sept 7: Despite Miltablishmeht’s upbraid to President Arif Alvi, the PTI elected Federation head “is unmoved, and not willing to step down.”
President Alvi’s term as the 13th president of Pakistan is set to end on September 9 this month.
A senior PTI leader quoting the President Alvi as saying: “I don’t want to step down until a new Parliment comes in vote for the new one (President) then I will bid adieu to the Presidency.”
Though President Alvi already have a constitutional sanctuary – Article 44 (1).
Article 44 (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan states: “President shall continue to hold office even after his term expires until a new president is elected and assumes office.”
Rumour mill without any denial from Presiedncy is in the air that top Militablishment bosses had an audience with the die heart PTI worker – President Alvi, reminding him of his state duties specifically his controversial tweet over a Secret Act Bill and his foul play at multiple times specifically using his (President’s) office for his party’s (PTI) interest.
“During the meeting President Alvi did made a comment over PTI chairman Imran Khan – now prisoned for selling state gifts, equal rights of elections for all parties but specially for PTI’” the official said while citing President as saying.
However, when asked that President is more a party loyalist than a state figure head of the country, the official remarked: “This was the reason that President was asked to step down as he is (PTI) party hawk rather than a State’s President.”
While Presiedncy keeping a mum over the matter, the sources close to the action on ground noted: “Even if he (President Alvi) stays he will be dormant and deadheading,” said one source.
The Secret Act Bill and Army amendment bills were now a reality, and all actions will be done as per the amended acts.
“One should not fool the state functions which work according to some set rules of business”, insisted the source.
Few days back President Alvi on X tweeted: ““As God is my witness, I did not sign Official Secrets Amendment Bill 2023 & Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2023 as I disagreed with these laws.”
“Let’s not fool a complete state,” the source asserted.
Meanwhile, PrideNews is open to any comments from Presidency or its official spokesperson or the President, and willing to carry any comments on the story.
