Islamabad, Sept 19: With Imran Khan in prison for selling state gifts, PTI cabal is active to lobby for early release of party leader and elections.
For this move, PTI in US hired a lobby firm for second time paying a hefty amount in US dollars citing concerns to Khan’s life.
The US lobby firm, a senior PTI leader, while informing PrideNews on Tuesday, said: “We want to hook few US Congressmen to pressure Pakistani Miltablishment for early elections, and release of Imran Khan.”
The leader while speaking from Washington said:”We gravely fear khan’s life is endanger and we are seriously concerned about his life and secuirty.”
Though, Imran Khan, former Pakistani premier is kept in highly guarded Attock jail with almost all facilities available to him specifically – cooked food, access to television, and newspaper, freedom to meet his family members, and legal team.
The lobby firm, he said, was hired with the assistance of Pakistani doctors residing in US and active PTI international life time members.
Though, PTI USA signed a contract with a Washington-based lobbying firm in February this year – Praia Consultants LLC, to support the party’s goals for “good relations with the United States and the Pakistani diaspora in the US.” The contract was signed on 21st February for a period of six months, according to the documents filed with the US Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
This is the third such firm, he said, which has been engaged for better image of PTI.
Last year, the PTI had hired a lobbying and PR firm – Fenton/Arlook, to provide public relations services, including but not limited to distributing information to and briefing journalists, placing articles, and broadcasts, arranging interviews with representatives or supporters of PTI, advising on social media efforts, and other such public relations services. Fenton/Arlook was hired at the cost of $25,000 per month provided PTI the needed services for its positive outlook of image in US.
The leader informed that “similar lobby actions are afoot in European Union, and United Kingdom to persuade policy makers about human rights violations, political discrimination, media gagging by Pakistani Establishment, early elections and Imran Khan’s bail on humanitarian grounds.”
The leader added, “we want Imran Khan’s message conveyed strongly to the world that free and fair level playing ground shall be provided to PTI and we just don’t want a rigged elections bringing in former political conmen back to power.”
It is worth noting that PTI workers abroad are already lobbying, and running social media campaigns against state institutions by spreading hate content which is being neutralised by various departments of the federal government dealing with such a subject.
Asked about the role of Jemima Khan, the leader insisted: “Jemima khan is free world woman and had the right to lobby for her ex-husband and there is nothing wrong in it.”
Asked who would be paying for such a large scale lobby: “We have pooled in money from across the globe from PTI workers on volunteer basis and will successfully complete this venture in US, UK and EU.”
