Renowned American publishing house; the Fulton Books, is all set to launch the book of esteemed Pakistani scholar and intellectual Sardar Irshad Shaheen soon. The book titled “Physics and Sufi Cosmology-The Cosmos and the Self” attempts to address the mysteries involving the creation of the universe and life in the light of science and philosophical spirituality.
Since the dawn of human civilisation, the conscious man has been wondering about the mystery of existence – the existence of the universe and the existence of his own being. This riddle still haunts the mind of modern man: Who we are and why do we exist? What is the purpose of our life? The book attempts to address these mind-boggling riddles.
Sardar Irshad Shaheen, the author of the book, is a retired senior civil servant who served at the prestigious Inland Revenue Service or IRS, formerly known as Income Tax. He is from the highly revered 1st Common batch of bright civil servants and served at important official positions including Member Federal Board of Revenue, Chief Commissioner Taxation, Commissioner Income Tax at different revenue stations and other important assignments during his decades-long illustrious career as a bureaucrat. He also served as Senior Advisor to the Federal Tax Ombudsman.
Mr Shaheen has two master’s degrees, one in political philosophy and the other in political strategy, and was deeply involved in intellectual pursuits. Having passionate interest in literature and philosophy, he desperately sought to know the phenomena of existence and life and found himself on a difficult zigzag path in search of truth. He intended to write a book on the goal of human society, which, however, remained a dream during the succeeding years. The flame of the search for truth kept him alive to conduct his research work even during his successful and senior bureaucratic career. He spared time to visit different institutions including those in the academe, holding discussions, delivering lectures, and writing articles. During one of his private visits to the United States, he was invited by John Hopkin’s University to deliver a lecture on terrorism in South East Asia.
