Islamabad Oct 2: With Nawaz Sharif’s return set for less than three weeks – PML-N supermo this time want tickets for general election candidates who are young party workers, student leaders, and key political activists in their respective constituencies.
A key PML-N leader while speaking from London informed PrideNews on Monday: “We are likely to given tickets to our party workers in the first week of November with most of tickets going for the first time to young faces as desired by Maryam Nawaz rather than party runways and disgruntled leaders.”
The PML-N leader said: “Our main focus shall remain GT Road – Central Punjab, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa it will be Peshawar, Abbotabad and northern areas like Swat.”
“Karachi’s two seats will also be on political radar while few tribes joining in from Balochistan.”
For total of 342 National Assembly seats PML-N which previously got 82 seats in 2018 general elections, but this time, he said, PML-N is vying to change the future pattern of 2024 general elections.
“We eye a majority win, and wish to win seats up to 150 plus making us the majority party in the National Assembly”, said the party leader.
On the side of the isle, former President Asif Ali Zardari eyes south Punjab as his game changer for PPP to gain federal foothold, PPP tickets are more for the linchpins – renowned faces like Gilanis, and others in Punjab, and across Pakistan.
At the 70-Clifton Bilwal House Karachi, PPP with escorts secuirty, PPP is thinking an approach rather more cautious.
“We are focused more on winning the Central Punjab seats with few additional seats coming from Southern Punjab, and an alliance at the centre to ensure our government in Islamabad,” remarked a close aide of former President Asif Ali Zardari.
PPP had won 54 seats in last general elections, but has only one seat from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and wiped out from Balochistan with few seats from majority province – Punjab.
“Let Mian Sahib (Nawaz Sharif) land in Lahore, and he will have many surprises from PPP,” noted Zardari’s confidant.
“Even if we (PPP) touch a numeric 100 in National Assembly seats, the Federal Government will be of PPP as we are focused for an alliance,” the PPP hawk insisted.
“We are not bowing out,and we are not shying away we are here as we always bleed green, and we know that democracy is no doubt the best revenge even from PTI,” added the aide.
Asked at what time frame PPP would open it cannons – giving tickets to its general assembly candidates: “It will be decided by the end of this month or well before Nov 15, and we will distribute our tickets after Party’s Central Executive Committee meeting.”
The deciding factors, he said, for National Assembly tickets would be Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, and Faryal Talpur but “PPP takes opinion, and give credence to old party leaders giving due respect to observations, and requests for ticket distribution made by loyal party workers.”

Ends.
