Islamabad Oct 3: With appointment of NADRA’s new chairman from Army Pakistan Tehreek-E-Isnaf (PTI) have inched closer to sign a deal with a British data company to ensure Imran Khan’s solid win in coming elections, highly placed party sources confided to PrideNews on Tuesday.
“Let’s go the Trump way, and let’s give a surprise to all the political parties,” remarked a PTI party leader associated with such an engagement.
The party tech informer told PrideNews: “We are going in to elections with technology, and there is nothing wrong with it,” when enquired about data secuirty of Pakistani potential voters using Facebook, and other social media platforms.
It is worth noting that former American President Donald Trump also had such an engagement with a British based data firm – Cambridge Analytica, to ensure a success ladder during election campaign in year 2015, and also in year 2020.
Cambridge Analytica, according to one secuirty official, had gained notoriety for its work on psychological voter profiling, besides it allegedly and improperly obtained the personal information of tens of millions of Facebook users in US, helping former President Donald Trump gain crucial voter(s) psychological trends.
Trump, the source, said propelled into White House, mainly with the key digital support coming from Cambridge Analytica that had played a key role in constructing what was later known as Project Alamo, a massive online campaign — much of it orchestrated through Facebook advertising ensuring Trumps win.
But who is engaged in Britain for such a move, the PTI tech source observed: “PTI’s is being funded on a large scale by oversees Pakistanis and also by Jemima Khan, Imran Khan’s ex-wife.”
The source confided: “Data of Facebook through a British consultant Data Company would help PTI to have ground info far better than an intelligence agency’s first hand prime information,” citing “like where (in a constituency) PTI has complete vote jam, youth population, hard core PTI workers, age brackets, and mainly behavioural trends of voters helping the party to campaign in a similar manner as advised by Data Company.”
However, despite Imran Khan being jailed for selling stolen state gifts, his party’s oversees hawks are working in highly professional manner running multiple reels, Facebook and instagram pictures – reels – and, twitter trends to date that had dent the political parties, and completely changed youth’s mind set.
Asked whether Election Commission of Pakistan would allow such an engagement to PTI, the party source said: “Using technology has nothing to do with ECP, and its engagement is not meant on Pakistani land.”
Asked that it does have an impact of secuirty – privacy, and breach of data of Pakistani Facebook users: “It’s only meant for certain political purpose but never for some secuirty purpose,” insisted the PTI tech source.
When approached PTI official spokesperson they refuse to give version on such a development.
