GOVT OFFERS JUI-F BLUE CHIP CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

Islamabad, Sept 14: For the Miltablishment its on observation mode, but for the government of the day its a resuscitation call – get through the current Constitutional Amendment (Package) with two-third majority approved from the Parliament to meet a larger scale of unknown political interests.
The current government desperately needs 224 votes in National Assembly, and 64 votes in Senate of Pakistan to pass its constitutional amendment.
The Pakistan government’s current amendment is aimed at increasing the retirement ages of Supreme Court, and High Court Judges to 68-year and 65-year, respectively.
At the moment the Article 179 of the Constitution envisages that a judge of the Supreme Court shall hold office until he attains the age of 65 years unless he sooner resigns or is removed from office under the Constitution. Whereas, Article 195 of the Constitution says that a judge of a high court shall hold office until he attains the age of 62 years unless he sooner resigns or is removed from office following the Constitution.
Government and its ally Pakistan PPP are fletching Maulana Fazlur Rehman to support the constitutional amendment.
“JUI-F has been offered two governorships – Balochistan and that of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces along with three Federal Ministries – Housing & Works, Communications, and Religious Affairs,” one senior PPP leader informed PrideNews on Saturday, along side the ongoing National Assembly session.
“This is a blue chip being given to Maulana and he should agree, this is what we believe that he will support in this needed constitutional amendment after this offer,” insisted the leader, who is also part of PPP Central Executive Committee.
“Ball is in Maulana’s court, and i think he will agree sooner or later,” maintained the PPP hawk.
A senior JUI-F leader wishing not to be named when asked about the current development said that whatever Maualna would do party with stand with him.
“We all(JUI-F) legislators are at Maulana’s diaposal,” he remarked.
“Maulana wants democracy to be strengthened and people to get power but not any one running the show from any compound or a room,” said the JUI-F leader.
He said that government offers are much under consideration but we not vote until “we are convinced that these constitutional amendments will benefit the people of Pakistan.”
On the other side of the isle, is none other but Imran Khan’s gagged PTI whose legislators saw glimpses of a Martial Law when they were arrested from within the Parliamentary compound putting question mark on the strength of an ever weakening Parliment and current political government.
“Wont vote, and wont support,” said the key party leader of PTI.
PTIs fireball stance has increased government’s turbulence with no smooth sailing for them despite being in power for last almost six months.
Ends.
