Islamabad Sept 16: With the Federal Government failing to resolve the puzzle to meet it’s required numbers for a Constitutional Amendment, lawyers of the State “are unison resolving to initiate a nation wide movement against the Premier Shahbaz Sharif led ever weakening government if the constitutional amendment sails through the Parliment.”

The government is already short for what experts say a do and die battle, to have needed judicial reforms while few lawyers declaring it as ‘a judicial melt down’ if these reforms are passed in the dark.

The Federal State government is short of 13 votes in Lower House to pass the said constitutional amendment, while in the Upper House Senate, it is short of 9 crucial votes.

A senior lawyer in the country’s top bar while speaking to PrideNews on Monday said: “Government is has aiming us with an arrow towards the judges but don’t worry the arrow will be broken soon.”

“We are observing every thing – Shahbaz Sharif and PPP led government’s move in both houses – and if this legislation goes through all bars will be in action pretty soon.”

“Its an onslaught on judiciary and lets not fool over-selves,” insisted the senior ranking Supreme Court practising bar lawyer.

With the Chief Justice of Pakistan Honourable Justice Qazi Faiz Issa set to retire this month government’s is in fear from incumbent Honourable Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.

“They want judgements, and decisions which only favours the elite, and the ruling class it cant happen,” observed the lawyer.

“It will be a lawyers movement,” he warned.

Meanwhile, insiders informed PrideNews that how Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned the federal government’s movers and shakers: “What if tomorrow you (PPP / PML-N) need justice and these handpicked judicial brass will not give you justice instead will drive every thing in establishment’s way and we all will be behind bars”, JUI-F top leader was quoted as saying to one of the PPP leaders.

The Shahbaz led government on Monday saw an egg on its face when it could not mature a political move for getting the latest constitutional amendment passed from Parliment for a likely extension in sitting Chief Justice’s tenure, next chief justice from nominee of five senior ranking Supreme Court Judges, rotation of High court Judges in all four provinces etc.

The government of the day failed to woo Maulana Fazlur Rehman despite lucrative political offers given to him for a vote of support for passing the constitutional amendment which Maulana refused putting – the government in the back foot.

Ends.
