CHINA : AFGHAN GOVT ‘BLA ENGAGEMENT’

Islamabad, Oct 7: In a major break through, Chinese State Secuirty Intelligence has approached Taliban leadership in Afghanistan to woo Baloch Liberation Army defectors -not to attack its strategic assets – officials and investment structures inside Pakistan, PrideNews has learnt reliably on Monday.
This is first major engagement of Chinese intelligence agency within Afghanistan to engage with BLA which has been acting as proxy for non-state-actors for last few years hitting Chinese nationals within Pakistan’s borders, who (Chinese) have been working on major energy, infrastructure and investment portfolios including Pakistan’s southern ports.
“They did approach the BLA leadership through their Afghan source(s) using official channel of Communications of Afghan government,” a source informed PrideNews.
The latest development surfaced after two Chinese engineers were killed in Karachi in a late night Improvised Explosive Device attack close to Karachi airport exit gate. Chinese who were killed were performing duties at Port qasim Electric Power Company (Pvt) Limited, project. A Pakistani civilian, and 11 other persons including paramilitary officials sustained serious burn injuries during the blast according to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre physician, reported Pakistani media.
Pakistan government has strongly condemned the act of terrorism, which now the Chinese media stated an act of terror by BLA – a separatist militant group fighting against the Pakistani state inside Balochistan.
“Chinese investment in Pakistan during last two decades is over $30 billion and current engagement is aimed at ensuring not to hit at their (Chinese) nationals and assets,” remarked the source.
The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad also issued a press release on Monday where it strongly “condemned the terrorist attack, express deep condolences to the innocent victims of both countries.”
Pakistan has been facing attacks on Chinese assets at various projects all over the country where most of the attacks were planned or either engineered on Afghan soil, or initiated by BLA from Balochistan’s buffer area(s) despite Pakistan Army’s and its intelligence agency’s hard work to protect forigen assets within Pakistan.
Asked what is the likely outcome of the current engagement, the source said: “Chinese secuirty officials have been engaged with their Afghan counterparts parts for last many weeks but the current step is positive development which will also help Pakistan to stabilise its infrastructure which has been on hit-list of BLA for last many years.”
