Islamabad, Sept 18: After being bulldozed by Maulana Fazlur Rehaman’s nudge over extending any support to current Federal Government for its shady Constitutional Amendments, Federal Government would again pitch the constitutional amendments now in November.
Though government’s Senator Irfan Siddqui insisted in an interaction with media outside the Parliament on September 16 this week, saying: “It may take a week or 10 days for the constitutional amendments to be presented in the parliament for approval. I don’t see any problem in it and this is not the end of the world.”
However, a senior ruling coalition leader from Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) informed PrideNews on Wednesday: “After completing a consultation phase with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazulr Rehman, and others, we (government) will pitch a consensus based draft bill in November since Maualna wants a month to discuss the document and share his final nod.”
“We will complete our homework which was not well cooked by our side of Minister’s before going for a vote in Parliment,” he said, while not willing to share his name.
“Premier Shahbaz Sharif is annoyed by his own kitchen cabinet involving Azam Nazir Tarar, Atta Tarar and many others who were hurrying up to get the draft constitutional amendments through to Parliament without any ground work,” he maintained.
“We are weakened, and we have lost a huge moral ground in Parliment which left Pakistan Peoples Party to lead and negotiate with JUI-F,” he said.
The sitting State government needs at least 224 votes in the Lower House, and 64 in the Upper House to push its package now a controversial constitutional package through from both houses.
Strangely after the lost of Premier Shahbaz Sharif’s team for getting the current constitutional amendments pass from Parliment, the Miltablishment wants PPP to lead the negotiations with JUI-F and others believing that Shahbaz Sharif led regime is raw in dealing with political parties and not trust worthy anymore.
The leakage of constitutional amendments draft from PML-N to media was also worrisome for Miltablishment which indicates that PML-N is not fair in dealing, and keeping things to its chest.
“We are hopeful that PPP negotiation team led by Bilawal Bhutto will likely to bear fruit,” hoped the PML-N leader.
Ends.
