Islamabad, Nov 5: Everting a possible storm coming its way – Donald Trump would bail out Imran Khan, – Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supremo has “likely” engaged an American lobbying firm to garner positive reflection of his political party within the United States establishment, informed sources confided to PrideNews.
This would be a second stint for three times former Premier Sharif of Pakistan to engage a US lobbyist firm.
Previously in his last stint as Prime Minister, Sharif’s government did engage two US lobbyist firm during the year of 2013-18.
During that period US lobbying firms — Cambridge Analytica, and Roberti Global were hired for positive reflection of Sharif. The firms lobbied, and carried out a number of surveys which highlighted the performance, and popularity of the PML-N government above than the rival political parties within the US Congress.
“His (Sharif) tour was kept low profile even Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington D.C. was kept away from Nawaz Sharif’s engagement which in the eye of media were declared as of personal nature, and related to health matters of Sharif,” a key political party leader of PML-N informed PrideNews on Tuesday.
Nawaz Sharif travelled to US on Oct 28, last month, with London based Asian journalist declaring Sharif’s tour to US as related to medical check-up, and a visit to a friend(s) in Washington, D.C.
However, on the other side of isle Imran Khan’s led political party Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) hawks in Washington D.C. had already inched more trouble to Pakistan government, with few US based Pakistani physicians, and tycoons have injected heavy funding into US Lobbyist firms engaged to pressurise Pakistani decision makers, including its mighty military establishment.
In January this year, PTI had also enlisted two lobbyists in the U.S. to gain support from American Congress and leaders to pressurise Pakistan government for favouring Khan’s political party and easing pressure on its political workers, and leadership.
“Sharif’s action in the U.S for a lobbying firm is a may-day call for its rivals – PTI – specifically its media deserters who have large fan base but with less solid, and truth based information,” insisted the party leader close to such developments.
